Charged last year for allegedly accepting illegal donations to her 2014 campaign, state schools superintendent Joy Hofmeister learned Tuesday the case against her had been dropped.
"This is a joyful day for me and my family and a day for which we have long anticipated," said Hofmeister, who had consistently maintainer her innocence.
There is still a lot to learn about why the charges were dropped and what Hofmeister might do in response, but here are five takeaways from a press conference she held Tuesday evening declaring the ordeal behind her.
[pagebreak]Reelection: Hofmeister didn't hesitate when asked if she would seek reelection in 2018.
"Absolutely," Hofmeister said.
