HHS cutting way back on funds for 'Obamacare' promotion

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration is taking away much of the money allocated for the promotion of health care enrollments under the Affordable Care Act.

Democrats who back the health care law are accusing the Republican administration of trying to sabotage the ACA with the cuts in promotional budgets.

But Health and Human Services officials say the government isn't getting much bang for the bucks it's spending this year on helping people sign up for health insurance under the law commonly called Obamacare.

Officials say money for next year's advertising will fall from $100 million to $10 million.
