AP names 3 new deputy chiefs of bureau in Washington

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Associated Press has named three editors to new positions leading its coverage of the U.S. government and American politics.

J. David Ake, Kathleen Hennessey, Elizabeth Kennedy are AP's new deputy chiefs of bureau in Washington.

The appointments were announced Wednesday by Julie Pace, AP's Washington bureau chief.

In his new role, Ake will serve as deputy chief of bureau for visual journalism and presentation.

Hennessey will direct AP's reporting on the Trump administration and the presidency, Congress and politics and serve as a deputy for newsgathering.

Kennedy will guide coverage of national security, law enforcement and justice, among other beats, including the ongoing investigation into allegations of collusion between Trump's presidential campaign and Russia.
