Oklahoma sales tax holiday for school clothes, shoes was on chopping block

Oklahoma's back-to-school sales tax holiday begins Friday, but the tax-free weekend was almost eliminated this year to help fund state government.

As lawmakers scrambled to find revenue in May, they considered temporarily suspending the three-day window for buying untaxed clothes and shoes.
