Norman event held in solidarity with Venezuelan voters

NORMAN — About 473 people cast votes in a plebiscite election at Amazonia Latin Flavor in Norman to show solidarity with an election in Venezuela.

A plebiscite election is one in which people of a country or region express their opinion for or against political matters.

Beatriz Mayorca, with SOSVenezuela-Oklahoma, one of the organizers of the Norman event held Sunday, called it a civil protest and vote against proposed constitutional changes in Venezuela she said would “destroy democracy.”

SOSVenezuela-Oklahoma organized a similar plebiscite election in Tulsa.
